Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future
January 13, 2026
Author: Jessica Schwarz, Westerville Area Chamber, Events Development Manager
As the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce launches – full steam ahead – into 2026, I’m reflecting on all that has happened in the last nearly 365 days.
In January of 2025, Janet Tressler-Davis was still at the helm, starting her 33rd year as our steadfast President & CEO.
At that time:
- We were just shy of our collective team goal of 800+ active Member businesses.
- We were anxiously awaiting the “Chamber of the Year” announcement from the Chamber Professionals of Ohio – fingers crossed tight that it would be Westerville to earn that top recognition. (Spoiler alert: it was!)
- Andrea Champoux (Membership Growth & Services Manager) was not yet part of the team – in fact, her role didn’t even exist yet.
At last year’s Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon, our theme word was ‘BOLD’. We were thinking about what it means to make bold decisions, to lead boldly – perhaps deciding to boldly step aside to let someone else lead – to think bigger, aim higher, and work harder toward a stronger, more connected business community.
So much has happened in the last calendar year, and with new leadership, new ideas, and new momentum, I’m so proud and excited to celebrate all we have accomplished in preparation for what is to come in 2026.
The Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon is the time of the year when we look back on the year prior – at our goals and priorities, what we accomplished, and what we’re still working toward – and when we look forward at our shared vision for this place we collectively cherish.
Westerville is where we live, work, shop, relax, plan and dream. It’s where we prioritize the kids in our state– and nationally– ranked schools and where we emphasize the importance of local journalism and local government.
At the same time, it’s a place with a front-row seat for the future of global innovation, technology, and change. As that future sets roots in Central Ohio, what does it mean for Westerville’s residents, business owners, workers, infrastructure, and landscapes – geographic, political, or otherwise?
FUTURE IN FOCUS: A LOOK AHEAD
We’ll start the day with a morning presentation (and bagels, of course) led by One Columbus’ Interim President, Matt McCollister. This short workshop, “Future in Focus: What Westerville Can Learn from Regional Trends” will do a targeted deep dive on the factors shaping the economic outlook for the region, narrowing the magnifying glass to explore how those broader forces will impact Westerville specifically.
This presentation will set the stage for the Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon, where we’ll hear from our new Chamber President & CEO, Matt Lofy about his vision for the Chamber’s future – and what his boots-on-the-ground data collection over his first 3 months in the role has taught him about where our Membership sees us going.
EXCELLENCE IN ACTION
Then, friends, it’s time to celebrate! Celebrate the excellence of the people and the businesses that propel the work we do!

DHL Supply Chain | 2025 Large Business of the Year
At DHL, their purpose, “Connecting People, Improving Lives” extends beyond their business operations. They are deeply committed to making a positive difference in the communities where they live and work, including Westerville and the greater Central Ohio region. Their associates are encouraged to engage in meaningful service, and their charitable giving reflects their values of Respect and Results.
Waymakers Restoration | 2025 Small Business of the Year
In the last two years, Waymakers has created and expanded upon existing relationships within the Westerville community with real estate professionals and small businesses to increase their visibility as a trusted community resource. With that community-focused mindset, Waymakers’ philanthropic arm – its free store The Waymakers Foundation – has partnered with such organizations as the Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM), Westerville City Schools, Neighborhood Bridges and others to assist families in need with donations of school supplies, blankets, clothes, and home essentials.
Rooted in Gratitude, Excited for What’s to Come
As we close the chapter on a bold year and look ahead to 2026, I’m reminded that excellence isn’t just measured by growth or scale – but by impact. By showing up. By investing in people and place.
Bold, it turns out, didn’t just mean big ideas or brave decisions. It meant trusting the process. It meant evolving. It meant honoring where we’ve been while creating space for what’s next.
The opportunities ahead of us are real. The work is important. And the future of Westerville is bright because it is built by people who care deeply about this place and each other.
I enter this year filled with appreciation: for the team I get to work alongside every day, for new leadership and the fresh perspective it brings, and for a business community that continues to believe in the power of connection.
