A Benefit for Central Ohio Children's Charities
The Chilly Open is an annual wintertime fundraising event, organized and run by the Westerville Sunrise Rotary Club to raise money and increase awareness for children's charities in Central Ohio. The event, which began in 1997, takes place each year on the first Saturday in February at The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and is hosted by local celebrities Dom Tiberi of WBNS 10TV and Woody Johnson of 92.3 WCOL. This family-oriented event has helped raise over $2.4 million for area children's charities such as The Children's Hunger Alliance, The Ohio Trooper's Caring Fund, The Maria Tiberi Foundation, Mount Carmel St. Ann's, W.A.R.M., The Buckeye Ranch, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and the Ubumwe Community Center in Rwanda, Africa. The Westerville Sunrise Rotary Club organizes and runs the event, so 100% of the proceeds go directly to these charities.
