Involvement: Professional Development

We are proud to present our professional development series for the 2008 year. Mark your calendars now for these courses! New and fresh ideas are always welcome! 

All classes held at the Chamber Office with the exception of June 10th and July 8, these are computer classes conducted at Otterbein College at Roush Hall in the Computer Lab.  Class size is limited so register early!

Continental breakfast is included in all morning classes, sponsored by Panera Bread and Starbucks!

 All classes are $25 for Stakeholders/$35 for Non-Members.

Growing Your Small Business - Wednesday, February 13, 8:30am-11:30am
You will get more profit generating ideas in 180 minutes than you have in the last 3 years. You will learn how to work on your business, not in your business, how to multiply customers, how to get back thousands of dollars in lost profits, and much more. Presented by Cyndi McAlpine with ActionCoach.
 

The Basics of Financial Planning - Wednesday, March 19, 8:30am-11:30am
If you need to be grounded in the fundamentals that will help you successfully plan your financial future, then this session is for you.  Topics covered include investing, education funding, tax, estate, and retirement planning and insurance.  Presented by Brian Edwards with Smith Barney.
 
Getting Organized, Your Workspace and You!  - Wednesday, April 23, 11:30am - 1pm, Lunch and Learn Session (bring your own lunch)
Brush up on office arrangement, desk arrangement, filing systems, time management, paper management and computer management…to make your work day flow easier!  Presented by Linda Moorehead of Moorehead Consulting.
 
Quickbooks – Beginner Class - Tuesday, June 10, 8:30am - 11:30am
Learn how to navigate Quickbooks, create a company, fine tune the chart of accounts, set up customers, vendors and items lists, invoice/receive payments, pay vendors, make deposits, record mileage, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, use the report center and the help menu, and backup Quickbooks.  All participants will receive free Quickbooks Trial Software.  Presented by Joyce Shanahorn of Genoa Financial
 
Quickbooks – Intermediate/Advanced Class - Tuesday, July 8, 8:30am - 11:30am
Create estimates, do progress invoices from the estimate, set up inventory items and manage inventory, set and pay sales taxes using Quickbooks, customize forms, enter bills, pay bills, manage cash flow, track reimbursed expenses, use time tracking, integrate with Word and Excel, best use class tracking, memorize and use forms to eliminate monthly duplicating, use Planning and Budgeting  tools. All participants will receive free Quickbooks Trial Software. Presented by Joyce Shanahorn of Genoa Financial.

Taking the Fear out of Networking to Grow Your Sales! -  Wednesday, November 5,  8:30am - 11:30am
What is networking and what are the benefits?  Fears about networking, 8 essential communication skills, tips and techniques, and networking conversations will be discussed.  Class will include a fun networking activity to get you relaxed and ready to learn the edge!  Presented by Shawn Garrett of Emerald City Coaching.
