ABOUT US
Why do
we need a government relations
committee?
Every business operates inside a world
of policy, regulations, laws and
long-range planning. Most government
officials want to have strong
relationships with the people they
serve.
We have a duty to express
our stakeholders’ opinions and interests
on matters that affect their community
and their businesses. Our government
relations committee is the vehicle we
use to get us there. The committee
supports the Chamber's mission of
promoting the free enterprise system.
Our mission
Our purpose is to:
-
Work with elected
officials to support and/or establish
legislation, regulations and policies
representing stakeholders’ top concerns
-
Enable businesses to
thrive and compete locally, nationally
and internationally
-
Provide related
educational programs and materials
-
Generate revenue for the
Chamber and the committee itself
Our focus
In 2006, we asked stakeholders what
government relations issues are most
important to them. Although the list was
long, these issues are top concerns and
will be our focus throughout 2007 and
2008:
If you’re interested in
finding out more about government
relations within the Chamber,
e-mail us with questions, concerns
or your interest in joining the
committee.
